1. What Pong Ladder is
Pong Ladder is a web application for running a table tennis ladder inside an organization, such as a workplace or a club. It keeps a season, a ranking, challenges between players, recorded match results, team standings, and player statistics.
The service is a scorekeeping tool. It does not organize play, supervise matches, or verify that a reported result actually happened.
2. Who operates the service
The hosted service at pongladder.com is operated by Victor Pero, a private individual in Sweden, as a personal open-source project. It is not operated by a company and is not sold as a commercial product.
The Pong Ladder source code is published separately under the MIT licence. These terms cover the hosted service only. If you run your own copy of the software, the MIT licence governs that copy, and the operator of the hosted service is not responsible for it.
3. Accounts and eligibility
You need an account to use the service. You can create one with an email address and a password, or by signing in with Google. An email address can only belong to one account.
You are responsible for the account, for keeping its password confidential, and for everything done through it. Use an email address you actually control, since verification, password resets, and notifications are sent there.
The service is intended for adults and for members of an organization that has chosen to use it. It is not directed at children.
4. Organizations and what members write
Play happens inside an organization. You join one through an invitation link, an access code, or an administrator, and an organization administrator decides who is admitted, who holds which role, and who is removed.
Content you enter — your name, your display name, team names, and reported match results — is visible to the other members of that organization. Do not enter anything there you are not willing to share with them.
The organization and its administrators are responsible for how they run their ladder and for what their members enter. The operator of the service does not moderate the content of individual organizations.
5. Acceptable use
When using Pong Ladder, you agree not to:
- use another person's account, or share an invitation link or access code with people outside the organization it belongs to;
- enter results, names, or other content that is knowingly false, offensive, or someone else's personal data without a reason to;
- attempt to reach organizations, accounts, or data you have not been given access to;
- probe, overload, or disrupt the service, or work around its rate limits and access controls;
- use the service to break the law, or in breach of the rules of the organization you play in.
6. Availability and changes to the service
Pong Ladder is provided free of charge and without any promised level of availability. It may be unavailable during maintenance, during a deployment, or because of a fault, and features may be added, changed, or removed as the project develops.
The hosted service may be discontinued. If that becomes the plan, notice will be given at the published contact address and in the application, with a reasonable opportunity to retrieve your data first.
Notable changes are recorded in the in-app What's new page, which is public.
7. Suspension and termination
An organization administrator can remove you from their organization at any time. The operator may suspend or close an account that is being used in breach of these terms, that is abusing the service technically, or where it is necessary to protect other users or the service itself.
You can stop using the service at any time and ask for your account to be deleted, as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. No warranty
The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. There is no guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure against every attack, or that recorded results, rankings, or statistics are accurate — those are entered by the members of your organization, not verified by the service.
Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The service is not a backup service.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data, or for loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, this free service.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Swedish law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, and nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer under mandatory law.
10. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the service changes. The effective date at the top of this page always shows when the current wording took effect, and a substantive change is announced in the application's What's new page.
Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms. If you do not, stop using the service and ask for your account to be deleted.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring a dispute before the courts there.
